2014 Scholarship Program
Inner Lakes is offering college-bound high school seniors the opportunity to compete for both statewide and credit union-wide college scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded in the amounts of $1,000, $500 and $250 and may be used at a two- or four-year accredited educational institution.
Students can take advantage of this opportunity by completing three simple steps:
Step 1: Stop in to any Inner Lakes branch to request a scholarship application form or download it here. If the student is not a member of Inner Lakes, he/she can request a membership packet as well.
Step 2: Complete the application form, write an essay and obtain the required test transcripts, along with the signature of a parent or guardian.
Step 3: Return the completed form to any of our offices no later than January 31, 2014.
There is no fee for submitting an application, but students applying MUST be:
members of Inner Lakes;
college-bound high school seniors at the time of application; and
attending either a two- or four-year accredited educational institution for the first time in the fall of 2014.
In early spring, applications will be judged against other submissions. Winners will be announced in April.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
Our credit union will again be participating in the VITA free tax program. This will be our 7th year assisting those with low to moderate incomes by preparing and electronically filing tax returns for the people of the community. Members who would like to take advantage of this program have to meet certain income guidelines. If your family income is less than $50,000 you are eligible to take advantage of this free program. When you call for an appointment it will be determined then if you qualify under the income guidelines.
The Fredonia branch will be the site for tax preparation. The volunteers will see members by appointment only on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. The times will be from 5:15 pm to 7:15 pm on Wednesday evenings and 9:00 am to 11:15 am on Saturday mornings. Please call (716) 672-5666, ext 229 to set up your appointment. We will begin taking appointments the week of January 17th.
If you do take advantage of this opportunity, you will need to bring in your tax forms, W-2 forms, any other income statements, photo ID and social security cards for your dependents. If you are the custodial parent you must also bring in proof that you can claim the children as dependents. And this year we will be implementing a new “Rural” program through our Westfield office. People who find it difficult to go to our Fredonia office may make an appointment to drop off their tax information to our VITA volunteer who will then have the tax return prepared in Fredonia. A return appointment will be made so that the client may pick up their completed return and sign the appropriate paperwork. It will be done in a timely and efficient manner by our certified VITA staff. We are the first site to run this program and look forward to a successful year.
